  5. #23 Best Colleges in AmericaUniversity of ChicagoChicago, IL·4 Year·Rating 3.82 out of 5 1,298 reviewsSophom*ore: Starting out at this university was not easy for me since I had to face many challenges on my own, away from family and friends I had back home. However, I had adjusted to the quarter system and found my place at the college. UChicago academics have impressed me, even with the required core classes. The professors I have met so far all appear to be enthusiastic about their specific fields, and they can be especially helpful outside of class. Given that our campus is located within a neighborhood, there are plenty of community activities and restaurants that students can hang out at, such as a Mexican-Korean restaurant called Seoul Taco. There are multiple dormitory buildings on campus, and the southern one is especially convenient as it has a dining hall, gym, and a small store all in one general place. There are also plenty of clubs, called RSOs, ranging from many types of activities like boxing or Japanese drum practice (Taiko). I would like more transportation options to explore.... I lived basically like Alix Earle (college wise and not fame wise). There is something to do every single day. I was able to go out 6 nights a week and maintain my workload pretty easily. I absolutely loved all my classes and the professors. Most of my class sizes were small and very discussion based which I find best for learning. My professors were all super nice, available, knowledgeable, and understanding. Campus is beautiful! Greek life is take it or leave it, people involved really like it and I wasn't in a sorority but was still able to go to all the frat parties. I love the academics here and the party scene and I'm so sad I am graduating next week. Anyone can really find their place here and if you want to tan in January or a serious student you should come here and study by the pool. And it is also a great place for international students, as there is a great network of support. The food is generally not bad at all, and there are many options throughout campus. With a mix of great academics, athletics, and campus programs I could not be happier anywhere else. The majority of individuals who complain about Clemson life do NOT represent the majority here at Clemson. Clemson has a unique atmosphere where you can tell the majority of students prioritize their academics unlike other campuses I have been to. Additionally, I have never met a rude person at Clemson. Everyone is open, kind, and willing to offer academic or personal advice. Also, the career center on campus has been number one in the nation several times and can almost guarantee you work. You cannot miss an opportunity to get involved because there are booths everywhere every single day! Sporting events are very lively and fun as well. There is always someone on the Campus that is willing to help you with whatever you need, as well as support groups. Although it’s already been one semester since I joined ASU but the diversity and the programs and the education system I got introduced to for the first ever time in my life it’s been so enjoyable and hell of a ride! I have no words to express my views as they aren’t just limited to words just like friendships as they don’t have any language barrier you can tag along with anyone your vibe match with and that experience the people I met, the projects I worked on the people I was surrounded with during the times of my classes I learned alot of things and alot of valuable lessons! I found people to look up to different people sharing different stories from all parts of the world after classes felt like a peaceful weekend enjoying the California sunset. 16. #109 Best Colleges in AmericaRensselaer Polytechnic InstituteTroy, NY·4 Year·Rating 3.59 out of 5 1,109 reviewsJunior: RPI is a phenomenal school for fanatics of their job. If you burn with new ideas about engineering or tech, you will find a spot where you can take them to life. All you need to do is knock on some professor's doors and send some emails. Professors are more than happy to talk about their research and include you in it. Social life is what you make out of it. Too many people complain about it being boring or insulated. If you want to have friends and be social, there are more than enough people to do so. If you want to be afraid of the sun and be in your dorm all day, no one will stop you either. Just because it is a "tech school" you shouldn't turn down RPI for a "low social life". The Arch program is a bit messy in its current state, but there are rumors about changes to it which I hope to be true. As of now it is a good idea, but badly executed. We could not be happier with our experience at UD! Our child is thriving academically, the classes are challenging him in ways he did not expect, but support is there if needed. The experiential learning opportunities, internships and study abroad programs are exceptional. Our son has enjoyed club and intramural sports, including tennis, volleyball and basketball. Family weekend is wonderful- so much to see and do, and it is an incredibly welcoming community. In fact, if you mention Dayton to just about anyone you will hear the word ‘community’ over and over, because it is true. Housing is unique- first year dorms are pretty typical, second year are either suites or on campus apartments, and third and fourth year students are eligible to live in the famous ‘neighborhood’, houses owned and maintained by the university. There is something for everyone, no matter when you find your path. While I feel that it is intimidating to join one of these groups and I have not yet joined one, I plan to soon. One thing I would like to see a change in is housing. Off campus housing is so incredibly expensive and the dorms are not available for every student as they are overcrowded and most are dirty. The area is safe and pretty clean, with easy and quick access to a variety of food, shops, and transportation. There are a few places that offer student discounts and lunch specials, which are perfect for in between classes. The classes themselves are, for the most part, informative, even though they can be very long. The professors are very helpful when you need them to explain a concept or answer a question. It is hard to contact them outside of class sometimes, but they usually get back to you within a day or two. Some professors just read off the slides, and the entire course is not usually loaded into Canvas ahead of time so you constantly have to check if you have assignments or if any changes have been made. If they were going to change anything, I would ask that they upload all the deadlines into Canvas, and allow for online classes for the ones that just need to read powerpoint slides.... There are always events happening around campus, so you won't be bored, unless you are a big party/big school person. Mercer is peaceful, but a tight-knit community. Everyone will know you, but that's not a bad thing. It is not hard to stand out, so you will be recognized for your efforts. Professors are incredible and extremely down-to-earth, making you feel welcome and providing excellent opportunities. They care about their students. Here, you won't just be a student, you'll be a colleague. The area isn't very walkable, but the campus is beautiful and always being renewed.
